Allianz France has entered into a partnership with the start-up Mila to support the rehabilitation of children suffering from learning disorders such as dyslexia, dysorthographia, dyscalculia and so on. For the time being, this pilot project is aimed at employees of the German insurance group. Introducing this innovative initiative.
Allianz France’s approach to DYS disorders
Affecting nearly 7 million people in France, learning disabilities do not benefit from optimal medical follow-up – access to care is still as limited as it is a source of profound social inequalities.
In fact, even though certain professionals are qualified to help children with DYS disorders(occupational therapists, graphotherapists, etc.), mutual insurance companies and other insurers do not cover them sufficiently to ensure long-term rehabilitation.
In September 2022, Allianz France decided to carry out an innovative initiative with start-up Mila: for a period of 7 months, the insurer’s 8,500 employees will have free access to the Mila-Learn app for 3 months.
The Mila-Learn medical play device
Published by Bmotion technologies,
Mila-Learn
is an application dedicated to children with DYS disorders. In a playful environment, with an accent on music and video games, she deploys exercise sessions designed to stimulate their abilities – be they reading, attention, working memory, visuo-spatial analysis, flexibility or inhibition.
Used at home as a complement to more conventional re-education sessions (at the speech therapist’s, for example), the application has already reached 6,000 children aged 7 to 14… It is currently the subject of a national clinical study, with the Parisian hospital La Pitié-Salpêtrière. In phase 3, it is evaluated in the same way as a drug – the aim being to make it a medical device, covered by Social Security…
The Allianz/Mila partnership
Once the Mila-Learn medical device has been tested at Allianz France at the end of March, its use and perception by families will be evaluated. Depending on feedback, this initiative could be included in employees’ group supplementary health insurance contracts.
Charlotte Guy-Duquesne, Head of HR Development and Talent Management at Allianz France, explains why: “Because these disorders can represent a major factor in isolation among young children, Allianz France has chosen Mila-Learn, an innovative device where technology offers new possibilities for developing remote training protocols. With this solution, tested by over fifty employees and acclaimed by the whole company, we aim to make our employees’ daily lives easier , and to contribute to the development of innovative systems for young people’s health.
